Which Desk - Same Style

When you first set up a home office, there are many things that you take into consideration. One is your home well established; are you taking over a room and redoing it; is it a new room which you are building specially for your new office or will it be a shared room with the rest of the family. Each of these different threads have their own questions that must be answered.

The two pictures are of the same style of furniture from the same manufacture but the two desks are very different types and visually worlds apart.

Simple Style

With Shaker furniture, the lines are simple, straight and very clean. This type of home office furniture lends itself to starting small with a few pieces and by adding piece by piece. If you are starting with a limited budget, this is a great way to start. If your budget is not restricted, this is still a great office set up. You can expand your desk space as your work expands.

Bookcases always help not just with shelf space but the whole feeling of your home office. You can display favorite nick-knacks, family pictures or keep everything strictly very professional.

You Need a Good Chair

Since you will be spend many hours behind your desk, you really need to get yourself a good chair. I mean, spend a little more that your might think to get a chair that fits your body. If you are short, the depth of the seat is not that important, but if you are tall or long legged, you really need to find a chair that supports all of your thigh.

It will make a tremendous different in how you feel - if you are comfortable, you will never think about the chair in which you are sitting. BUT, if you are not, you will not be able to work for any length of time without breaking your concentration by having to move and stretch your muscles.

No matter what style or how you put together your home office, whether it is the first one or one after many years, you will enjoy the time more if you can be comfortable in your chair and in your decisions.

I wish you good fortune for working at home is a blessing to all.

I prefer a corner style desk that gives me space on the left and right side of my monitors for items like printer, important binders and other essentials that I need for my day to day work. I never have liked to have an office with a desk in the middle, it just feels like an island to me and I prefer that at least one of my sides is against a wall.

CZCZCZ - we all have our likes and dislikes - I like my back to a wall (generally with a credenza behind me for the printer and files.

Thanks for your time and the visit

I've got to have the style with shelves on top! My desk resemlble my brain in that it has many things going on at once....some filed away for later and many things coming and going.

I love that style - although I spread out not so much up. Bookcases are off to the sides - I really like looking outside while I am working. Helps me think.

Thanks for the commnet.
